Flirty, Fluid Movements at Jay Ahr FW 2013

This is the first official presentation of Jonathan Riss (initials J.R. hence the label Jay Ahr) and it was a resounding success! I had a special preview of the collection yesterday and had tweeted bits of it before Jonathan had worked on final looks that would make it to the runway, and I was astounded with what I saw.

My favorite piece up close: this laser- cut leather skirt. Yes, it’s leather and not fabric. Jay Ahr’s technique s unparalleled. jaya9 jaya10

Construction and execution without argument, are Jonathan’s strong suits, design is definitely another. Season after season, I see Jonathan experiment with structure, materials, textures, and embellishments, and I think this FW 2013 collection is without a doubt his best yet. I am not exaggerating when I say this, but everything in his collection looked very good together, or as separates.

Jonathan’s inspiration came from his travels– from the architecture he sees (Beijing being one of them), right down to “movement”. Fluid movements. And Jonathan’s aim to capture movement, is a downright success.

Thoroughly enjoyed the collection! Can’t wait to see this collection hit his boutiques in Paris and New York as well as at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and online at Netaporter, and Luisaviaroma!

P.S. Shoes by Walter Steiger 🙂
