Celestina Bags

Today I can honestly claim that I am a privileged baghag. No, not because I was given preferential treatment at my doctor’s *pfft I had to wait 30 minutes, but that beats waiting 1 hour!!* Hehe, I am lucky because like the even luckier femmes before me (DaphP being one of them), I got to view a few of the Celestina bag collection by TinaMOcampo.

Celestina bags are only in the market fairly recently, but they’ve already been spotted on celebrity A listers like Halle Berry and Drew Barrymore. And we’re not even talking Oscars yet! Believe me, before I saw these delicate things, I said to myself that in all likelihood, I won’t buy any since I can’t really use small bags since they’re mostly for these snazzy glitzy affairs *I’d rather be in my PJs than attend social affairs that require major dressing up… I’m just wayyy tooo lazy!!*. But when they were brought over to me, I was like, ugh do they have to be all so pretty? *sob* Trust me, you may not get that tugging-at-the-wallet feeling now, but when you see it up close and personal, don’t make me tell you “I told you so” 😀

Without further ado, thebaghag gives you, Celestina 🙂

Baguio– dark black shagreen minaudiere with bone clasps, priced at US$995. This is one of my personal favorites. A black city bag may not be in my closet, but a black minaudiere can definitely be accommodated! It’s soooo nice!!! *heart* (This is also available at www.vivre.com)

Masbate– Tiger shell that opens like a minaudiere priced at US$1,350. This is another pretty unique bag, and is also the designer’s favorite, who chose this piece to go with her Alaia gown at the Monique Lhuillier show *which yours truly was not invited to, nor had the money to buy herself a seat to haha*. This is truly a remarkable piece to own. I can’t wait to see which celebrity will be carrying this bag to the Oscars! *my bet for the Oscars is this bag actually haha*

Blueridge– Leaf green shagreen with red agate center stone on both sides. This beautiful box clutch priced at US$960 is my other choice if I don’t get the black *sigh, I have to remind myself to only go with one piece. Ugh*. My ever articulate DH said it looked like a very ornate tissue box *hahaha men and their words*, but that was exactly what I love about it! If you had a plain ol’ boring LBD, wouldn’t this minaudiere just spice it up? 🙂

Cambridge– Brown hammered inlaid mother of pearl shaped like a rectangular sugarloaf, priced at US$700 is a very small piece. I love it too, but I have to be practical– it can’t fit anything except perhaps a small lipstick. It’s very delicate looking, but I can’t fit my small phone inside, so that rules it out immediately. But nevertheless, it is too cute!

Anita Magsaysay Ho– hammered abalone shell that separates into 2 pieces. Personally not my style, but the work on those inlaid abalone is remarkable! Priced at US$1,180.

Session– Mother of pearl (Mop) “capiz” with oxidized silver frame. Ok now this is the bag for me. I’ve decided this will be my 2nd bag of the year *oh dear, more lies haha*. This also was the bag that Drew Barrymore carried to the Golden Globes (she got the bigger version of this, called Pacquiao :D). (Photo credit: eonline.com/ wire images) Ok so I’m a sucker for celebrity bags 😀 But in all fairness, I love this bag because it’s mother of pearl, and I love the juxtaposition of metal against something as “dainty”and delicate as Mop. Priced at US$1,115.

Nora Aunor– Teehee this olive shagreen was named after one of the Philippines’ 80s superstar 🙂 I love the curved bone edges of this piece. Tsk I really wish I can just take 3 pieces, but that would mean the end of my purse purchase quota… And it’s not even February yet! This beauty is priced at US$1,290.

There are actually 2 more bags that I didn’t feature– the Moonlight loop in sterling silver with dark green jade bracket (remarkable detail– the bag costs US$1,800) which Halle Berry carried, and the similar piece in copper.

Sigh… too many beautiful bags, too little money to buy them all! *major sob* Oh here’s something I want to discuss with you all. HunnieB made a point to inform me to update my allthingsexpensive blog. Methinks I’ll just merge them into this blog. I will talk about jewelry and bags 😀 But of course, bags will take precedence still *otherwise our other baghags will start pelting me with all things rotten haha*. You do know that every so often, if I find beautiful jewelry pieces as well as affordable ones, I will feature it– can’t stop me from doing that. It’s an illness, I’m telling you. Lusting for all things expensive is really an illness. But pssst, it’s never too early to start amassing jewelry too 🙂 Whatcha think about that baghags?
*Don’t worry, I will start with affordable pieces that won’t burn a permanent hole in your pockets :D* I love to dream big…. don’t you? *muwahaha think JAR earrings with a Hermes diamond and crocodile birkin hahaha*

Gotta try to sleep now. Last night was pretty bad. I couldn’t even sleep flat on my bed without coughing *I mean barking* like a dog!! Sad indeed 🙁 I hope the medication I’m taking is gonna get my condition better. I’d hate to think I’m turning into a frog, what with all my dreadful croaking everywhere *Boohoo!*
