Bloomingdales Opens its Doors to SF bag hags

Sorry for not posting anything yesterday. I was just so tired and could not even stagger over to my laptop to blog. We had watched a movie last night– World Trade Center, directed by Oliver Stone. I honestly got so drained watching it. It was heavy human drama and really tugged at my heartstrings. Don’t expect to see much of the usual Nicholas Cage action there– it’s really more of a drama (dramedy– drama/tragedy). But it’s good. It makes you realize how we should never take things for granted. We are all so blessed, you and I. And we have so much to thank for in life 🙂 So smile 😀

Now, today was the preview event and party for the grand opening of Bloomingdales. There were probably thousands of people who flocked to this event, armed with their tickets and their credit cards, hoping to purchase something at this memorable SF event. Hey, you’d want to be there when a department store this big opens. And you’d like to be there when a big department store closes too (think I.Magnin before it went to department store heaven– and guess who was there by 7:30am? *muwahaha* I’m not that desperate, right? After all, a Chanel leather jacket at that time was slashed down to a price of US$500– from thousands of dollars *seriously*. But no, I didn’t get that. No money to pay for it!)

The line to the opening of this store was soo long that it covered the whole block and the back corner! The promise of a $25 gift certificate per person was enough to lure a hag like me to this event. Never mind that we had to stand out in the cold blowing wind. $25 is still $25, and free is free!! You’re talking major freeloading hag here, and hey, this is really something! That plus free umbrellas to those who are applying for a Bloomies card, and free shopping bag (no purchase necessary too)! Look at that line inside the store!

Check out the floors… Sooo nice. That’s the beauty and cosmetics section
And then there’s the accessories section (jewellery, glasses, watches..)– the very back corner which is all lit up, holds sooo many sunglasses. It’s really overwhelming!!

And of course there are the bags in the bag section 🙂

Bags, bags, bags everywhere!!! Mabiani’s conservative Frame bags. I’ve never heard of this brand before…

Cynthia Rowley has these nice patent belted totes with the big buttons on the side (that black bag on the left).
Tokidoki for Le Sportsac! Now, if you think these little animae-ish bags are just too kiddygiddy for you, think again. These bags are selling like hotcakes! And it really made me wish that all the nice bags are just priced like Le Sportsac. So affordable! (Helen Lee Schifter, do you Tokidoki? hehe.. *her husband owns Le Sportsac.. lucky hag*) I had seen their stuff before but for some reason today, seeing the Asian women grabbing these made me decide to get one. Chuvaness, I am converted haha.

D&G (Dolce and Gabbana). I’m not interested in this bag at all, but it’s nice to know that the brand is represented in this store.

I love these large leather hobo bags, especially the green one (hehe that’s me!). I forgot the brand already. It’s Amy something. But it’s beautiful. The leather is SO supple and the bag is SO light. But it’s not exactly cheap either. Priced at US$545, these bags are not your average run-of-the-mill leather hobos. I think if you like hobo bags and are looking for a roomy one, this is the bag I can highly recommend.

Giorgio Armani
also had some nice pleated drawstring bags; Fendi was well- represented, with the whole line present, which also included the metallic silver spy with golden weave handles.
There was a Dior boutique as well as a Burberry and a Chloe one.
Chloe only has one baby Betty bag available (the large ones are just sooo heavy!!) for US$1575.

No Chanel, but they do have a Louis Vuitton boutique.
I am loving the monogram groom pieces. Sooo much!! *heart heart* But I can’t really decide on which I want. Unfortunately, the zippy wallet is not available. I don’t want to compromise and get the compact zip. Very very cute pieces, hags. A must- get! 🙂

But the new monogram bag with the plastic chain handles is just plain ugly. The “couture” version is just as worse, with gold snake handles and the leopard print accents. It spells expensive gaudy *puke*

Botkier leather bags are actually sooooo soft. This bag reminds me of lingerie (a D-cup bra *hehehe so I have a vivid imagination*). But it’s rather cute in its own little way 🙂 I’d get the bag because of the leather, if anything!

Costume National
I didn’t even know they forayed into bags now! I learn something new everyday.

There’s Juicy Couture. That bag is real heavy by the way, cute as it is. Boy, the young women behind this brand are already so rich. Imagine, they have a clothing, accessories, bag, fragrance, and jewelry line! Oh woops I forgot they also have shoes now! Sigh… I wish I was as fortunate and as smart as they were! Alas, I am just an end- user, that consumer sucker that every big company would want to have *consumer who buys plenty and has debt hahaha!*

I went up to the next floor, where the designer clothing was at. Didn’t linger on much here. Instead, I went to the 3rd floor, where it’s more my section. Clothes from Diane Von Furstenberg, Three Dots, Vince, Max Azria, Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc J, Theory, Robert Rodriguez, Nanette Lepore etc, were on the racks. It was so hard to walk out of that section empty handed– there are too many good things there. Way too sinful. I’ve overspent on this trip already. So my mantra: No more spending, just plenty of ogling :), is now officially applicable.

There’s a large section that’s also dedicated to denim. Jeans everywhere! And this is just a section! There are sooo many kinds of jeans– Antik, Seven, Rock&Republic to name a few brands. It can be a rather daunting task to find the perfect pair too– muffin tops are no-nos *uh oh, some of my jeans give me muffin tops– this is when your skin/flabs roll over the waist/hiptab of your jeans*. Oh well 😀 So I’m a fashion victim. Tell me something I don’t know 🙂

We left the store at 8pm already to have dinner and watch “All the King’s Men” at the Metreon. Of course it was after taking this last shot that the battery of my camera died. (I’m very irresponsible with charging the battery camera– ask my DH and he will vouch for that hehe)

Meanwhile your hag has to turn in for the night. I’m real sleepy and I’m also tired of waking up at noon already (what a life… like a pig, if not one already). I need to get my system back in order! *thwaps myself*

P.S. Sigh… My purchases on this trip (though few), have officially sent me back to the financial dark ages! (There, I am sharing my loot! Now hold off the obscene remarks haha, and don’t pelt me with rotten eggs!)Now’s the time to peddle off my so-called job skills. Anyone want to hire me? I think I’m pretty good at promoting bags! Please hire me! *Baghag’s begging mode :D* Will work to pay off debt from buying bags *SAD*. This has to stop. I need to be more financially conscientious. I’m gonna form a shopaholics anonymous group soon. I need serious therapy to cure retail overtherapy. (Most women would concede to having this problem, while others will remain in denial forever hahaha– where do YOU belong? 😀 Spill the beans, hags!) TRESOR will get updated when I get back– on the selling block are pieces from my own closet, i.e. Chanel, Chloe (to fund the new bags, natch!) At least I don’t really hoard like our other closet baghags! 😀 *wink!*

P.P.S. On an unrelated subject, UGH I’m SOOOO pissed at photobucket. So I’m on the “pro” account but I’ve reached 1,000 photos and the darned site would no longer take in my photo uploads, saying I’ve reached maximum limit! But then again, I paid for the photobucket service upgrade specifically so that I have more bandwidth and space! (oooh I sound like I know what I’m talking about here.. haha fake techie) Now I’m using the blogger photo upload system. I hope I don’t mess things up again 🙁

P.P.P.S. We heard that there’s a super typhoon that dawned on Manila and the rest of the Philippines 🙁 So sad to hear this piece of news. I hope that you hags are all ok! Please stay dry– it’s so hard to be ill.

xo

  4. OMG guys and hags: I didnt realize you’d all see that red bag at the back haha. there’s a reason why it’s there! was hoping it was not noticed. *damnit im stupid, it’s red, duh!*
it’s a 30cm birkin and its epsom. i was not really looking for a red bag, but hey, when you get shown a birkin and you say no, who knows when you get offered another one again, right? (i’ll worry about the credit card bill when it comes hahaha). so i bought the bag. my chic sil will be taking that bag off my hands because she is the red bag person. i’ve actually retired the red color ever since my dad passed away 4 years ago. im learning to use red again but the most i’ll go for are red accessories. and yes, mom got the novak 😀 it’s gorgeous! oh and i love that tokidoki bag– well ive always been a fan of lesportsac accessories, but now, this bag really is grabbing me (and it’s cheapER compared to everything else, so hey, it’s all good!!).
