Bags+ Jewelry= Broke Hag!

Whew, today is such a better day for me. Yesterday I looked like I was about to make an appearance as a dance soloist at the 80s variety show, “That’s Entertainment”. No, don’t laugh, I respect that show and what it had represented *hehe seriously!*. It’s just that well, it’s year 2007, and That’s Entertainment was in it’s heydey during the late 80s. And well, my outfit was very reflective of that “That’s” era haha. No, I won’t post photos (actually I had forgotten to take a photo yesterday! *killjoy haha*) So today, I took a photo of me coz I looked decent *at least I think I look decent haha*. (Boy don’t you all wish I posted that photo of me in my “That’s” outfit so you can take your priceless potshots at my horrid fashion sense *muwahaha*)

At least you hags get to see what the Louis Vuitton mahina looks like on me. It’s HUGE!! But bah. Let me tell you what’s been tugging at my financial strings lately. Beautiful jewelry. Like out-of-this-world beautiful jewelry. I know, I know, but this is a bag blog, why talk joaillerie? Well I figured you are all luxury- loving peeps *ok, you cannot not say you appreciate the finer things in life, right?* so I might as well share, in hopes that someone out there has the actual moolah to fulfill a wishlist like the one I have (sadly, mine remains a wishlist).

Sevan Bicakci’s rings have been stunning me, design after design. I first laid eyes on his work when I was at Barneys NY, San Francisco. Sevan‘s designs make all other designers’ pieces look plain and ordinary. Call me a jaded biatch for saying that, but I have been spoiled. Sevan’s contemporary/ antique- looking pieces have won me many times over. Case in point, these pieces: This ring has a carved centerstone– carving is of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul (if I’m not mistaken). The blue color with red and white you see are micromosaic! This is really a lost art. I know no other modern jeweler who incorporates micromosaic into the design.

Here’s another ring with enamel and again, look at the center stone. I don’t know what that is, but again, this is so unique, something that I’ve never seen before. (Photos from fashiontrendsetter.com) And really, if only I was loaded with moolah and more, I would not have hesitated to drop something like US$20,000 for a ring like this. I know, sticker shock– $20k+ for those ornate rings! *Cough* that’s a new Hermes ostrich birkin 40cm haha. But let me put it this way, it’s like buying yourself a Picasso and being able to wear it on your finger! (oh Gawd, listen to me, I’m trying to convert you baghags into jewelry hags hahaha– ok let me justify my wanting to convert you peeps *I’m NOT converting you peeps. Stay as baghags!!!*- I just want you hags to “know” about the ridiculously overpriced *teehee it’s true!* but fantastically magnificent “goods” out there 😀 So if you win a million bucks, you know where to spend it on haha *save some of that moolah for charity as well! Gotta give something back too if you plan to spend that much :)* )

*Sigh* I love jewelry although I can’t really indulge in them as much as I’d like to because quite honestly, I don’t have that kind of budget for it. My friend DP’s and my guilty pleasure is spending an afternoon ogling at the pieces in Janina and Jul B. Dizon at The Peninsula Hotel *palpitate… heart heart!!**. Almost everything in their jewelry salon is worth drooling for. Another jeweler with nice pieces (nice= huge bling woohooo) is Kristine’s at 6750. The pieces from these 3 jewelry salons can leave you restless and sleepless at night. (Oh, sorry sorry, shameless plug: apologies again for the plug, but I do have a small whimsical “ring” line called I.Benjamin at FIRMA Greenbelt/TriNoMa though– if you have the time, do check them out. They’re fun too!) *Sigh*, women and their jewels 🙁 *think Elizabeth Taylor*

So I was somewhat pleased to see some “stones”make it into bags! Check out Marc Jacobs’ Stones Paloma Handle bag. While you won’t really see me carrying this style of the bag, I still have to give credit for Marc putting a “stone” on the bag. I like it!! 🙂 Priced at US$1,875. Available at barneys.com. At least this bag won’t break your bank like the Sevan rings hahaha!
