Bag Review + Sale Alerts

Another weekend begins for everyone! I’m actually glad this week is almost over because all I did was run around from one meeting to another, and cram in a week’s workload in 2 nights. So yes, I have developed dark circles around my eyes… Yes, this baghag‘s turning into a stinky racoon *muwahaha*. I don’t think any amount of my cocktail facial cream concoction (strivectin + olay+ the secret something something) will remove these dark circles anytime soon… *sob*. I am beginning to feel old. You know, like “our- parents” old. I realized this the other day as I was walking to Pepper Lunch to have lunch with newlyweds MFO and HD, RubyG of Schu/Myth and her bigman son RT before the newlyweds depart for New York (take meee with youuuuu hehehe).

You know you’re old when: you feel your face “jiggling” and falling prey to gravity as you stride. Pssst, hags out there, do you ever FEEL that happening to your face? Or is it just me? *Muwahahaha*. This is really a pretty pathetic observation. And now I know why women want Botox! Not like I’m ready to do Botox. I’m far too broke to get it done (yes, I’m broke. Again. Why’d ya think I didn’t get me anything on my birthday? hahaha). Plus I’m real scared. What if I end up looking like Jack Nicholson– as- The- Joker? *Gulp*.

Bah. Anyway, this isn’t really the best place to talk about my fears of “ageing”. This is a bag blog, for cryin’ out loud. *Me thinks to myself: No one cares to listen about your ageing wooes!!* So ok, I’ll reserve the sagging sob story for another post… when someone out there really cares enough to listen (aka someone willing to sponsor my Botox treatments hahahahaha… the constant remains… Mrs.T= freeloader!!!)

Now, I haven’t been doing bag reviews. You noticed? That’s also because when I am REALLY broke, I’d rather not look for bags. The less temptation for the weak, the better. *Muwahaha*. But I’m actually getting flak for not blogging regularly too (sorrrryyyyy!!!). You see, I’ve just really been busy (busy stuffing myself with food, AND busy avoiding yoga… oye it has been a month already since I last did bikram yoga! Hehehe… baaaaad!!).

Anyway, without further ado, another long- overdue bag review!

I’ve always loved Bottega Veneta. Topping the list of reasons why is the fact that the leather they use is just so buttery soft. No other bag designer brand compares to BV when it comes to leather suppleness. But then I saw this bag. Me no likey. Reminds me too much of a woman’s boobies *censored!!* (think left and right hehehe). I would’ve appreciated this bag more if it didn’t have that detail down smack in the middle. It just looks too weird to me. Maybe someone would like it but it certainly isn’t the choice of the day for this baghag wannabe! Priced at US$1,950 at net-a-porter.com

Someone asked me about Kooba bags. I’ve never actually owned a Kooba before, but I can tell you that they’re very well- made. I ended up scouring through their site and actually liked this Nelli bag. Perhaps it’s also because I am somehow reminded of the YSL downtown tote (which I also don’t have haha). I especially like the big buttons! Kooba leather is also quite good, and well, for US$635, you can’t really go wrong with this tote. *Wish it were available in white!* Available at kooba.com

Another Kooba bag I picked is the Jaylin. This bag is perfect for the baghag who simply loathes carrying big bags. It’s lightweight and small, so you don’t suffer backpains from carrying this bag for a long period of time. Those exterior pockets come in handy too! Priced at US$485. Oh and did I mention this particular bag comes in lavender? 🙂 *heart*

For the more conservative baghags, I highly recommend the Anya Hindmarch Naplak Top Handle Bag. The shape of this bag is a classic, and what I especially like about it is that it has two zippers that “meet” to secure the bag. This is the one thing that I wish Prada did to the Fairy bag. When you are in a hurry, you don’t really want to have to hold onto the body of the bag to open it. This Anya bag satisfies that no-fuss “requirement”. The exterior pocket with the contrast colored piping plus twistlock enclosure is an added consolation. Priced at US$1,170 and available at saksfifthavenue.com

If you haven’t yet seen SATC the Movie, then you must’ve had your head in the sand. One of the more memorable love-it-or-hate-it dresses that SJP wore, was this asymmetrical flower dress. (photo credit: WENN)

Now, if you love this dress enough to own something remotely similar to it, it might take quite awhile for you to get that chance to wear it (unless you have some cool event to go to). I personally wouldn’t be caught wearing it since I just knoooow friends would compare the flower to the size of my head *muwahahaha and my head’s pretty darn big, with all the “air” inside… hello, bimbooo*. So I would choose to go the safer route and carry a flower bag from Valentino! *ta-daaah hehe I won’t hold the bag close to my head to avoid inevitable comparisons hahaha*. The Valentino Fango Nappa Petale bag is actually such a fun bag to own. It may be stay on the “trendy” side, but hey, every so often, you need one of those “whazzat?” bags. For me, this would be it. 🙂 Priced at US$2,495 *not cheap* and available (pre-order) at saksfifthavenue.com

  1. Hi Mrs T, loved your picks on Kooba bags. Aside from LV, this is one brand that I like. The other day I was at Greenhills and I’ve noticed that fake LV’s, and even Birken bags are openly sold. Do you know the Philippine distributor of LV bags? Wish they can do something about it. Also wonder why the Ortigas group allows these vendors to legitimately set shop at their mall.- Mommy

  2. the good news is — the bottega veneta pleated purple bag will actually come in the classic veneta bag — no pleats 🙂

  3. Hi!
    This is non-bag related.
Where do you get your strivectin? I heard it helps improve appearance of stretch marks.
    HELP!
    Thanks!

    PS
can i just say that i totally don’t think you’re a baghag wannabe. you are the baghag queen. way before other people used and abused the baghag term.

    Cheers!

  4. Hey, Mrs. T! Lunch was great… but it’s MT that was with me. RT was the one who was so disappointed for not being able to join. He was also the same guy who sat beside DH and enjoyed the bonding!

I know they’re quite confusing… they’re often mistaken as twins!

    Let’s do lunch again…
