BAG REVIEW: Prada Spring 2007

Did anyone shop the SSI sale? *Darnit spill the beans already!* Baghag MsL bought herself a Prada wallet that she’s always wanted, so *yay!!* someone finally got what she has wanted 🙂
Accessories designer D! told me that she almost snapped up a Gucci tote in pink monogram for 15K, but someone beat her to it. That would’ve been a steal! But nah, I told her, sometimes things are not meant to be ours. It was a nice feeling to have thought that you could’ve gotten the bag though, but alas, disappointment is always in the company of elation during sale season.

Meanwhile, I did not even go remotely near Greenbelt 4 that day because I was b-r-o-k-e. DH even offered to take me there, but there I was, all calm and collected when I said, “no, let’s not go there.” Imagine DH’s shock 😀 (It’s not everyday you hear DH offer to take me to the moolah-sucking mall of Makati hehe)

2007 should be a financial banner year for me. I have made this pact with myself that I should not buy more than 4 bags this year *cough I wonder how long it’ll take me to break that pact*.
I must satisfy myself with eye candy– look but don’t buy 🙂 Baghags, are ya feelin’ my pain already ? *grovel grovel!*

Ok, ok. Maybe I’ll go take a peek at Greenbelt 4 tomorrow… *yea yea no EQ*. But I do know this– the best bags (cheapest) already got sold, so I’m sure I’ll come out of the mall empty-handed. Meanwhile let’s check out what online stores have for us. Spotlight on: Prada.

Pssst, another BLUE bag! *this is indeed the season of blue!* Prada ruched blue nylon/ leather bag. For US$1,650 you will get to be the proud owner of yet *another* beautiful blue bag! I love the fact that most bag designers now think of adding that all-too-important shoulder strap. Nothing beats walking around the mall with 2 free hands 🙂 Available at Saksfifthavenue.com

Prada
straw bag with chain straps. You will do a double take if you have long associated leather-chain straps with Chanel. This straw Prada has the exact same intertwined chain straps, and while I may be so inclined to tote one of these, I’d still rather stick to good ol’ Chanel for the same price. At US$1,390 it is simply not reasonable a price to pay for a straw designer bag. Even if it comes with those recognizable chains (that aren’t really Prada to begin with). Next!

Prada frame canvas bag. Hmm… hags, tell me something. Would you be caught dead with this citrus-overloaded bag? (Unless you catch colds easily, then this might be your carryable vitamin C *muwahaha*) I personally would (and hands down, I might add) rather tote a Pucci bag (hello, more originally– organized chaos of psychedelic prints.. or something like that. Pardon me for not being articulate enough *pffft*). I am frankly quite miffed that Prada came out with this bag (what do they think we are, suckers?) because from the looks of it, only the Devil will wear this Prada! If Prada were to do printed bags again, I would’ve rather they did it sans printing the logo big and wide this way, along with those other elements. It doesn’t work for me, I’m sorry. And the price is untouchable at US$1,750. This bag is one of those love-it or hate-it bags. And we know how I feel 😀 *cough.. hmm maybe I should get this bag since I always catch a cold/ cough! hehe*

  1. mrs. t, you can’t limit yourself to just four bags this year. afterall, you are THE bag hag. i live vicariously through you and your fab bags. you and lpt. so keep ’em coming. hehe. sorry. it just wouldn’t be the same you know.

  2. marie: there ya go, another bottega bag for moi 🙂 you should start buying bags too, can’t be all me. *empty pockets now*

thefashpack: i agree with you about needing to have a sense of humor and irony to love that bag. I have to admit that i don’t have a sense of humor when it comes to expensive bags because I feel that my $1750 would be better spent on a bag that would transcend “trend”. However if Prada were to price that bag at $300, then I would’ve somehow reconsidered. But then again for $300, you can get other equally quirky bags… more importantly, I doubt if we can see Prada lower the price of that citrus bag to $300.. But hey, someone is bound to love that bag enough to buy it, and thankfully it ain’t me. 😀 *that plus the fact that my wallet can’t exactly handle another bag purchase!*
