Bag Review: Mark Cross Grace Box Case Bags

I was so pleased to find out that there was a Mark Cross bag presentation in Paris during Fashion Week. It was actually Bryan’s friend, writer Steph La Cava (she penned “An Extraordinary Theory of Objects: A Memoir of an Outsider in Paris) who first introduced the label to me. Years later, I have become a big fan of the label because it remains a classic and luxuriously discreet label, a wise path that the new owners have chosen to take in an industry still largely dominated by logos and monograms.

The collection impressed me, and the one particular style I cannot wait to get my hands on for the upcoming season is the Grace box bag. This is what is called a real classic– Grace Kelly carried this exact Mark Cross bag for her film, Rear Window. And this FW 2013, the box bag will come in different colors and textures!

I’m tickled pink about the smaller size (in exotic snakeskin as well as in bright red), but completely bowled over by the larger cobalt and camel colors.  The bag packs in plenty, and has a detachable shoulder strap which allows for cross- body or shoulder wear. It is boxy which gives the bag so much character, and at the same time there is just something about it that makes it so utterly feminine!

It’s time to bring back the classics! 🙂

Mark Cross is currently carried by Barneys, but they are also available online at http://markcross1845.com/
