BAG REVIEW: Louis Vuitton F/W 2007

Ok, ok, I know that I had to swallow those big words I had said about those two bags. Vogue: Honey, I know what you mean, but oh dear honestly, check out the detail on the bag– I mean, tightly woven leather almost a la Bottega (although of course that’s an unfair comparison)! I can’t really tell you how much that in itself spells luxe to me πŸ˜€ Don’t worry, as I’ve noted, I am 1. Broke (because I have to save up for 2 upcoming projects which you will all know soon *I’m hoping the 2nd project works out too :D*), and 2. LV does not have that bag available for moi. I’m such a sucker for details, and sometimes I sacrifice the actual style of the bag. But put it this way, that Street bag (aka China sack bag) is cute in a tongue-in-cheek sorta way. I guess you have to really look past the Sack bag perception to see the beauty of it– and JP, yes I have seen the light πŸ˜€ *muwahaha I didn’t think it was too late to ‘jump ship’ but I must admit my ego was severely bruised for admitting that I was wrong haha πŸ˜€ tsk, in the end, I think it shows– I am such a die-hard… Haha shame shame!!*

And since you all so enjoyed my unabated bag bashings, you just might literally hear me ranting once more (or maybe I shall proceed with caution this time… Hmmm… I fear being called a social climber with foot in mouth disease πŸ˜€ *hahaha ewwww!!* )– so without further blahblahs, here’s the Louis Vuitton Fall/ Winter 2007 Collection (photo credits: style.com)

Marc Jacobs seems to be big on these brushed “military uniform” push locks *sorry I can’t think of a better way to describe these kinds of pushlocks– have seen them on military uniforms πŸ˜€ At least I have!* These pushlocks made it to belts as well as bags.
More monogram canvas bags interspersed with exotic leathers? I see alligator trims… but I could be wrong. Not jumping for joy over these designs though, but they’re pretty safe I suppose. Hard to critique these bags since all I see are their sides! (Pre-tanned cowhide trims?)

A wristlet!!! *Whistle* I actually thought that was a collier de chien bangle at first *hahaha I’ve already been Hermesified!! tsk tsk tsk bad bad!!*And whoa, no sign of the monogram anywhere (do my eyes deceive me??) This is so pretty and understated and most importantly, trend-transcending.

Why hello, this looks like the sibling of the Stephen bag, doesn’t it? Same bulk but different handles. And bless MJ for thinking of putting those shoulder straps! Handbags can get pretty heavy and it only is practical to be offering a shoulder strap to go along with it. Smart move. Two thumbs up for that!

Did you remember some eons ago when someone donned an American Express gold card dress ? Well I was transported back in time and got reminded of the Amex dress when I saw this clutch. I must admit it’s got character, AND lotsa tiny gold plates that validate the bag (a hundred times) is indeed a Louis Vuitton πŸ˜€ *make no mistake, read what’s on the “plate”! :D*

Oh wait, do I see a patent/vinyl classic monogram bag??? (turn your attention away from all that shearling trim for a second and focus on the monograms) Lose those plushy trimming please. But check out the style, it’s the perfect S&M bag. Note, that was not a typo. It’s not H&M… and if you don’t know what S&M means, don’t ask or your mom won’t let you read my bag hag blog anymore hehehe *PG-13!!*

Now THIS I think I like– quilted and stitched monogram leather!! Comes in what seems to be a shade of blue (navy?) mauve (or old rose?) as well as brown (or bronze?)Very nice indeed! I can’t wait to see what more styles are available.

Hooo boy, when Fall/ Winter comes, designers just can’t seem to get this out of their mind– shearling!!! Chanel did it, Yves Saint Laurent did it, Hermes did it (but honestly they’re the only brand that got it right and made it look classy with the Shearling Kelly). And now, here comes Vuitton with shearling trims… Tsk… Designers, bags DON’T get cold, nor would they give “real” warmth to their owners πŸ˜€ Hmm although I must admit this bag would do the owner proud if she were to tote it to Gstaad for that annual skiing holiday πŸ˜€ *errr wait, reality check– this doesn’t apply to us peeps here in tropical paradise, so I think carrying this bag while here in Manila in the dead of heat would be just as bad as wearing UGG Boots over jeans– and ooh my I am not an arbiter of style, but I know not to wear those here in Manille!*. Okaaayyy… and I shudder to think about the smell of this bag after it stays inside the closet unused, in a humid climate. Eeps!!!

The Fall/Winter collection was not really bad, although I was also not swooning over any one bag in particular*and quite frankly for a baghag’s image, that’s bad. BUT for my ailing wallet, it is a blessing hahaha!* I do have some bags in this collection that I look forward to seeing in-store– especially that vertical and stitched monogram leather. I do hope though, that the styles available won’t disappoint. And more importantly, I do hope that I have some saved funds for a piece of that Vuitton Fall ’07 bag action πŸ™‚ *Who knows, Manna (err make that BAG) from bagheaven might just fall into this griping baghag’s lap hahaha*

SALE ALERT!!! Baghags, get your wallets ready for the Rockwell Mall-wide sale event that starts today πŸ™‚ Also check out new accessories of D! and get nice discounts on pieces from Ilaya Couture, Sapato Manila, K & Company, *hehe I had to promote my faves!* and all other stores πŸ™‚

xx

  1. Oh I beg you just NOT to buy that bag!!!! Hehehe. Thank God you’re broke! Save up to buy Hermes darling!!! The LV pieces aren’t as shocking or as awful as S/S’07, although I think it’ll take a little while to be taking use to…

  2. Mrs.T sometimes you just make me scratch my head and wonder and laugh. Why choose that bag? It just is so wrong for you =D I can’t imagine you carry that!! Not your style at all he he!! =D

  3. the real stand outs for me are those envelope clutches with the miniature Inventeur plates. but from what i heard it won’t make it to production. but who knows? the other one would be the new Monogram DΓ©gradΓ© collection. the traditional mono canvas will have two ground colours with one fading into another. you can see the slight tone change on picture #3 of the brown around the top into black at the bottom. there’s also a maroon/brown or maroon/black combo. the leather (your choice of patent or alligator) trims will match whatever colour the top bit fades into. here are better photo of these bags:

i hope this new treatment will eventually cross over to the men’s collection too. the men’s show had similar Mono bags but it didn’t look like they were degrade. the quilted/stiched bags you like are called Monogram Motard (motorcyclist) by the way. we better start saving now!
