A rewarding day + Clutch Review

My hard day yesterday had to be rewarded, so today I decided to pop over the Chanel workshop at the East Cafe at Rustan’s. My friend RCV told me to pop by since I’ve never really been good at makeup and she said I might actually learn something there. To tell you the truth, I’ve really been poor at makeup. I had worked for a magazine for 4 years, and walked away without learning anything– hahaha, the crappiest part of it all was, it’s not like I wasn’t taught. In fact, I had worked with the industry’s best makeup artists, and saw how they applied products onto the face and make the models look even more beautiful. They had even, at one point, taught me how to apply makeup on my own. I guess back then, I already figured that no matter what kind of makeup knowhow I have, I would never look glam. So I was pretty much set in my ways, knowing I will never achieve that vavavoom look. So when I go to events with “some” makeup, I end up looking like Britney Spears apres a night of partying– smeared eyeliner here, raccoon eyes there, runny makeup everywhere. In other words, deplorable *muwahahaha*.

I invited a few of my girlfriends to hang out with me at this makeup event too, but sadly most of them can’t come because of the odd time the event was held (either that or I really have no friends *bawl bawl sob*). But yay, luckily I had the uber chic Religioso sisters *of Religioso at Edsa Shangrila Mall* join me (thanks Yvette and Choc :D)!

When I got there, a group of “bag” ladies were there too– so, I had my fill of bag ogling today, thanks to them! I espied Chanel, Balenciaga, Anya Hindmarch, LV, and “dropjaw” fuchsia Hermes birkin which belonged to SU (sigh meanwhile I have no budget for a new bag *sniff sniff*)

Anyway, there was a plethora of Chanel skincare products and obviously I had no idea which one was for what. I figured I better learn something by the end of this “makeover”. So I got my face made up with Chanel products– from an impromptu facial to the application of makeup (primer, foundation, concealer, powder, eye makeup, lipstick). I sat next to ChocD who was also getting her makeup. And when we were done, I took one look at Choc and went “hey, no fair, you look gorgeous, meanwhile I still looked like I played with my mom’s makeup”. Hehehe…Oh drat, I forgot to take photos with YvetteI too. 🙁

I jumped from the Chanel event to the Wynn Wynn Ong’s Naga party at Firma. I failed to take photos of the event, but there were sooo many guests! Firma and WynnWynn have loyal followings 🙂 I just basically dropped over to say hello and congratulate WynnWynn for the beautiful collection. I did like a 3 piece stackable ring set with stones in 14k gold, but sadly they were sold rather quickly– the 3 piece ring cost Php 29,000. It’s a good deal already considering gold’s so unbelievably expensive these days– and it’s a 3 piece ring! *Sorry no photos :(*

Anyway, enough socials *pffft socialclimbing* for now, it’s time for another bag review 😀 The holiday season has already begun and party invitations are beginning to trickle in. While you can still conceivably carry a big bag (if you came straight from work anyway), you might as well get yourself a nice clutch– you can just store the clutch inside your big bag and ditch the big bag for the clutch come party time! Here are some nice ones I espied lately.

Marc Jacobs Stone Clutch. I love this bag. No, I’ve not become a black bag fan overnight, but this has color 🙂 It will also work with a lot of your outfits for sure. And this bag could very well be the only accessory you will have. Minimalism works well (i.e. go without jewelry) if you carry this clutch because the stone detail already adds the oomph to that jewelry void. Priced at US$1,650 at eluxury.com

Zac Posen Apple Clutch. So there’s no real need to buy an expensive clutch if you won’t use it THAT often. If you are looking for something relatively reasonable (in this day and age of US$1,800 handbags), this would be a good bag. Zac Posen has piqued my interest in his bag collection and this clutch is definitely no exception. Priced at US$795, I’m loving the brass detail because it contrasts nicely with the black. Available at eluxury.com

Lanvin Oulala Clutch. “Oulala” indeed. This bag works as a shoulder or wrist pochette as well as a clutch. Made of satin and a resin “jewel” centerpiece, the bag is classy and timeless. It’s one of those pieces that you will in most likelihood, use over and over again to parties and other evening affairs. Oh and this bag is also available in other colors like bordeaux and green. Priced at US$1,250, barneys.com

Have a good night peeps. Meanwhile I think I will play with my new Chanel makeup 🙂 *and hope that I don’t turn out looking like I had a Halloween hangover in November hehehe*

P.S. Thebaghag FINALLY has her new maroon (machine readable) passport!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Congratulate me *muwahaha, please!*. Despite the “hepatitis” look of my passport photo, I’m loving it. I earned the darned passport the hard way, so I’m really loving it hahaha. 🙂

P.P.S. I’m suddenly craving for that Wagyu Steak Sandwich I had at Malcolm’s Place (by HV Dela Costa Street) the other day… Their wagyu steak sandwich is mixed with a bit of wasabi cream sauce. Yummmy…. DH had the mini wagyu burgers (hehe our local version of the White Castle mini slyder cheeseburgers… only, Malcolm’s used wagyu beef!! *ugh this is torture… I can’t believe I’m hungry right now!*)

P.P.P.S. Last note! Thanks to Chef K of People’s Palace, I now have the reservations number of Sala, Makati. You can call (632) 750-1555. Try their seared ahi tuna or duck breast. *DROOOOL*

  2. Hello darling! I love reading your blog. I hang out on tPF and let me say, I LOOOOVE all the ladies there.

    ANYHOO!!
I have had fun at the Chanel makeup counter many-a-time. I always end up buying stuff most of which I don’t use, because I have my signature makeup routine down flat. It only involves bronzing powder, mascara, and lipstick/gloss. But somehow I keep thinking I need all the other stuff ‘just in case’ and since Chanel has such lovely colors…it sucks me in!!! EEP!
Luckily most of my purchases go towards lipgloss. THAT can never be too much 🙂

  3. i am liking those clutches, mrs. T!! i think i’m getting myself a clutch this christmas but i dont do designer bags coz theyre still so expensive but, so nice!

and where is malcolms place? The sandwich looks so good!
